The quiet scraping
Of utencils on plates
When dinner's bombarded
By negative fate
Everyone's face
Drawn down to the chore
Chewing thru bits
With thoughts at their core
(She yearns to undo
The destruction of what
She made with such care)
But the food grows cold
So far from finished
And what started as a debate
Is now love, diminished.
